The Lost Album: By Land And Sea, In Flight With Me / Thee (Album)

$12.00

I didn’t intend to make this album. It happened by accident, but happen it did, and who am I to argue with serendipity? Truth be told, I don’t even really feel like I made it — it made itself, or something guided my hand. That’s not in any way to say it was easy: it wasn’t and never is (or at least hasn’t been thus far).

But it wasn’t a heavily preconceived propulsion, either. I don’t have the wherewithal at present to wade into the murky and perilous waters that flow with discussions of the Divine or Higher Self and the capital-M Mysteries in this Life of ours, but suffice it to say I surrendered (relatively) peacefully, and this is some of what emerged from that surrender…

I admit this album explores some of the sundry and intense reaches of emotion, and all I can say is that 10 of the 12 tracks are brand new (those others from 2018/2020, 2022 but made in 2023), and we live in a concerning world, so there it is. I don’t make the rules; in part of this case, the songs do. Several run on the lengthier side, but this album rewards patience. Those who like sprawling stories and dense harmony across genre should, hopefully, enjoy this. Those same songs requested they Athena themselves out of my brain and spirit this way, so I listened.

Once I had made many of them, I thought to include far more than these — bits and bobs and this one and that one, and, oh, maybe that one too? — and thankfully, there was much to choose from — believe me; I am grateful — and sequence matters a great deal from various perspectives, but I whittled the collection down to these and think a conceptual through line and consistent sonic feel shows here. As in previous cases, they draw from myth and folklore and my own memories and insights, and, perhaps, the manner by which ever the twain shall meet.

I hope you like the experience of exploring them here. Join me by land and sea, and do take flight with me.
