Illuminations (Album)

$7.99

Illuminations came about quickly, unexpectedly, and joyously. While I had written one of the songs in the spring of 2019 and finished and released another this past April, I wrote the other five this May and June, composing four and recording and producing five during a long weekend. I have not had an experience like this, and all I can say is that it felt fun and exhilarating – very instinctual, like I was receiving rather than intellectualizing. This formed the opposite of a cerebral crafting.

Yet at the same time, I consciously, eyes, ears, and heart open, made this collection with clarity and intention. The words, numbers, and sounds have meaning, and though these are personal songs, I hope any listener could relate to them as well, speaking as they do through archetypal imagery. The songs stand alone but also work together as a cohesive whole: this is, after all, a concept album. And I ask, if possible, that you listen to it in order and in one go; it is quite short. It does not adhere to a specific religious (or non-religious) denomination, but it is contemplative and devotional.

May it bring you peace on your peregrinations and illuminate something positive for or in you.

Sincerely,

Deborah Stokol, Kairos Records, Summer 2025
